Brandon Politz joined Brown & Root as General Counsel in 2021, assuming that role from his friend, colleague and the company’s former longtime GC, Wayne Killion. Brandon oversees all legal matters for Brown & Root, including contract review and negotiation, claims management and resolution, insurance, employment matters, and general corporate law.

Prior to joining Brown & Root, Brandon served as in-house counsel for over a decade with several large construction and engineering firms, most notably The Shaw Group, CB&I, APTIM and EXCEL USA. Before that, his early legal career was spent in private practice as a defense litigator with two well-known Louisiana law firms (one in Baton Rouge and another in Shreveport). Thereafter, he transitioned to the business world.

As General Counsel for Brown & Root, Brandon provides legal guidance that brings to bear his corporate experience alongside his experience as outside defense counsel. He understands the company’s business needs and balances that against its legal obligations and contractual commitments. He works with Brown & Root’s customers, suppliers, and partners to find common ground for resolving issues as they arise. His department also handles human resources, subcontracts, procurement, licensing, and risk management, working collaboratively with all levels of the organization.

Brandon earned Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Civil Law degrees from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. His undergraduate degree is from Texas Christian University, where his studies focused on business and journalism. Apart from his day job, Brandon spends time as a community volunteer and family man. He served for several years on the Board of Directors for the Capital Area March of Dimes and as a community advisor/fundraiser for the United Way. He is an active parishioner at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baton Rouge and enjoys turkey hunting, camping, LSU athletics, and spending time with his family.
