BATON ROUGE, La., March 14th– Timothy Martinez brings home the Gold Medal! Last week, Brown & Root had the honor of sponsoring Timothy Martinez at the 2024 ABC National Construction Craft Competition. Timothy competed in the Tig Welding section and was awarded the highest honor for his work, along with the prestigious Safety Award. This is his third year competing, and his third Gold Medal win, others medals awarded for Structural Welding and Pipe Welding respectively. Timothy currently works in the Maintenance department at Marathon – Garyville, LA. His goal is to become a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
The 35th annual competition showcased the skills and expertise of nearly 190 of the nation’s best craft professionals in trades such as carpentry, electrical, HVAC, millwright, power line, welding and more, all vying for top honors in 16 competitions with skills on display in 12 crafts.
Established in 1987, the National Craft Championships celebrate and recognize upskilling in construction, draw some of the country’s most talented craft professionals and highlight the important role that craft skills training plays in the construction industry.
