Fred McManus is the Chief Operating Officer of Brown & Root, a role he has held since the company was formed in 2015. As COO he is responsible for the operations of all of the Brown & Root business organizations – engineering, construction, maintenance, turnarounds, and soft crafts – and has reporting authority for the executives (Presidents) of each business org.

After 20 years with Jacobs Engineering and its field services subsidiary, JE Merit Constructors, Fred joined The Shaw Group in March, 1999, to grow its industrial engineering & maintenance business. Under his leadership, Shaw’s Industrial Maintenance Services group grew from a startup with $10 Million revenue at two locations; to a $600 Million business in 70 locations before Shaw was sold to Chicago Build & Iron in 2013. He then served as SR. Vice President of CB&I’s Plant Services Industrial Maintenance & Engineering Services company from 2013-2015, responsible for operations across the U.S., North and South America, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand.

After 15 years of active involvement with the Pelican Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Pelican Chapter, Mr. McManus was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of that organization for 2005 and 2006. He has been committed to workforce development and industrial skills training throughout his career, and served on ABC’s Education and Manpower Committees for many years.

Mr. McManus’ education includes studies in business management and maintenance management at Louisiana State University and maintenance management at the University of Tennessee. He is an Elder on the Board of LSU’s Chapel on the Campus and is active in many social causes, including the Big Buddy Program, and Rebuilding Together Baton Rouge.
